CHICAGO, Ill. - The Concordia University Wisconsin women's track and field team continued its 2025 indoor season on Saturday at the Aurora Grand Prix, where they faced fierce competition from several Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) schools, along with NCAA Division I Illinois Chicago and Division II Purdue Northwest.
Senior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) led the Falcons with strong performances across multiple events. She clocked an 8.24 seconds in the 60-meter dash, and a 9.56 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, both top marks for CUW. Hielscher also found success in the long jump, placing sixth overall with a leap of 5.11 meters.
Senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) led the Falcons in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 28.22 seconds, while freshman Elizabeth Backus (Valders, Wis.) topped CUW's 400-meter field with a time of 1:06.54.
In the 800-meter, sophomore Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) set a personal best of 2:26.99 to finish 10th overall.
The mile race was a highlight for the Falcons, as four runners set personal records. Junior Ainara Sainz de Rosas(Madrid, Spain) led the group with a time of 5:14.18, followed closely by junior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) at 5:15.88for 13th place. Sophomore Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) posted a time of 5:15.92, while junior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) finished in 5:24.45.
Sophomore Sydney Lechisin (Turtle Lake, Wis.) represented the Falcons in the 3000-meter, finishing with a time of 12:15.51.
Sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) delivered a standout performance in the pole vault, clearing 2.75 meters to take fourth place and earn five team points for the Falcons.
In the triple jump, freshman Natiya Ballard (Stoughton, Wis.) led CUW with a mark of 9.90 meters.
In the weight throw, sophomore Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) placed sixth with a throw of 12.39 meters, earning three team points, while senior Jamie Maas (West Bend, Wis.) recorded an 11.28-meter throw to finish 10th.
Sophomore Paige Schreiber (Mukwonago, Wis.) led the team in the shot put with a mark of 10.66 meters, placing seventh and scoring two team points.
Looking ahead, the Falcons will next compete at the Whitewater Squig Converse Open, scheduled for January 31st and February 1st
