ANGOLA, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's ACHA Division II hockey team completed a road sweep of Trine with a 6–0 victory on Saturday. The Falcons shut out the Thunder in both games of the series and improved to 15–7 on the season.
CUW struck first with a power-play goal in the opening period, as graduate student
Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) put the Falcons on the board with assists from junior
Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) and graduate student
Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.).
The second period belonged to Emme, who recorded a natural hat trick with three consecutive goals. His first came 3:57 into the frame, assisted by sophomore
Tyler Reinke (Frankling, Wis.). Emme then scored twice more just 30 seconds apart midway through the period. Sophomore
Nolan O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.) assisted on his third goal of the night, while sophomore
Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) provided the helper on the fourth CUW tally.
In the third, sophomore
Dominic Murano (Milwaukee, Wis.) added his first goal of the contest, with Malek earning his second assist of the evening. Cassel closed out the scoring one minute later, finishing a setup from graduate student
Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) and Emme.
Senior goaltender
Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) anchored the shutout, stopping all 26 shots he faced to secure another clean sheet for the Falcons.
Concordia Wisconsin returns to the ice on Friday, Dec. 5, hosting Sault. The teams last met on Oct. 5 in Canada, where the Cougars earned a 5–3 win. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:45 p.m.
