Field Hockey Ends Journey in CFHC Quarterfinals

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team concluded its 2025 season on Thursday afternoon in the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (CFHC) Tournament Quarterfinals, falling 3–0 to host Marian University. The Falcons entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed.

Marian opened the scoring early, finding the back of the cage in the second minute and holding a 5–0 advantage in shots through the first quarter. The Sabres doubled their lead in the 19th minute, but Concordia responded with strong pressure to close the half.

In the final three minutes of the second quarter, the Falcons earned three consecutive penalty corners that led to quality chances from senior Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.), junior Bella Vandeloecht (St. Louis, Mo.), senior Katie Quirke (Antioch, Ill.), and junior Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.).

Marian extended its lead to 3–0 in the 35th minute. Despite trailing, the Falcons controlled much of the play in the fourth quarter, generating several opportunities. Cardinale, Quirke, and junior Maddie Rider (Danville, Pa.) each recorded shots on goal, but the Sabres' defense held firm.

Marian finished with a 12–7 edge in shots and a 7–4 advantage in penalty corners. Junior goalkeeper Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) made seven saves in the effort for Concordia.

Thursday's contest marked the final game for seniors Katelyn Cardinale and Katie Quirke, who close out outstanding Falcon field hockey careers.

The Falcons end their 2025 campaign with a 4–11 overall record and will look ahead to building on this season's experience in 2026.
