FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team swept Marian in their final road contest of the regular season. The Falcons have already earned a spot in the NACC tournament at 13-12 and 9-3 in conference play.
The Falcons maintained control of the lead the entirety of the contest. This included leading the Sabers nearly the entirety of the second set, only tying once early in the frame.
CUW capped their first set with an 12-2 run to secure the set, with seniors
Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) logging three kills and
Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) having two. Later on in the third set, the team had an early 6-1 run over Marian. Senior
Ashley Habermehl (Brookfield, Wis.) got an ace and a kill during the run.
Stickney went on to lead the team in kills with nine, hitting, .438 on the day. Sophomore setter
McKenna Oetzman had an impressive five kills against the Sabers and tallied 15 assists. Junior
Emily Dickmann also was on the court to set the ball for the Falcons, finishing the contest with 14 assists of her own.
A group of CUW defenders made an impact on the court, holding Marian to only 28 kills and 18 attack errors. Proefrock had a team high nine digs with senior libero
Brianna Lundt (Rosendale, Wis.) and Habermehl tallying seven. In six team blocks, senior
Noelle Smith (Davenport, Iowa) recorded 2.5 during the contest.
The Falcons will face Alverno and UW-Stevens Point at home on the final day of the regular season. During the double-header, the team will also celebrate and honor their seniors for their dedication to the program. CUW will play the Inferno first at noon and follow with a match against the Pointers at 2 p.m.
