WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – For the second night in a row, the Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team faced a top-10 ranked team. The Falcons fought hard against No. 8 Calvin, but fell to 5-7 on the year with 71-80 loss.
The Falcons claimed an early lead on Saturday night after they took advantage of an 8-0 run. The run was highlighted by a three-point basket by junior Javanni Blackman (Milwaukee, Wis.) to give the Falcons an 8-7 lead.
A layup from junior Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) gave the Falcons their biggest lead of the night at 14-10.
The Maroon and Gold used a 13-5 run to take a 36-27 lead with 1:50 left in the first half, but the Falcons did not hold and a three-point play for Casey Verhagen cut the deficit to 35-38 at halftime.
Calvin cruised to a 10-0 run in the first two minutes of the second half.
The Falcons fought hard for the rest of the contest but could not cut the Calvin lead to less than six points until Casey Verhagen drained a three-point basket to cut the deficit to 66-71 with 1:40 left.
Casey Verhagen led the contest with 27 points on Saturday night and added five assists.
Senior Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished with 24 points and seven rebounds.
The Falcons held a 13-4 advantage in fast break points.
Concordia Wisconsin returns to action in 2026 when the Falcons host St. Norbert on Jan. 3.
