KENOSHA, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin women's track and field team faced NCAA Division II competition at the UW-Parkside Classic, preparing for the upcoming Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Championships, which will also take place at UW-Parkside.
While there were no team scores at this event, several Falcons posted impressive performances, earning top-eight finishes in their respective events.
Senior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) delivered a strong performance in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 8.76 seconds.
Senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) also had an excellent showing, taking third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.67 seconds, while freshman Natiya Ballard (Stoughton, Wis.) followed closely in fifth with a time of 7.71 seconds.
In the 200-meter, freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) secured a fourth-place finish with a time of 26.92 seconds.
Junior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) earned gold in the 800-meter, posting a time of 2:25.08, while sophomore Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) finished fourth with a time of 2:28.54.
The 1-mile run saw strong performances from junior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) and sophomore Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.), who finished second and third, respectively, with times of 5:19.04 and 5:19.19.
In the 3,000-meter, junior Ainara Sainz de Rozas (Madrid, Spain) dominated the field, claiming first place with a time of 10:13.74.
Junior Kate Kotula (Wyoming, Pa.) continued to impress, finishing sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.02 meters.
Hielscher, coming off her hurdles success, added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.15 meters. Freshman Amiyah Jackson (Beaver Dam, Wis.) followed closely behind in seventh with a jump of 4.98 meters. Jackson also led the Falcons in the high jump, earning sixth place with a height of 1.45 meters.
In the pole vault, Kotula led the Falcons with a top-four finish, clearing a height of 2.90 meters, while sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) cleared 2.75 meters.
Looking ahead, the Falcons are focused on the NACC Championships next week at UW-Parkside, where they finished third last year with 113.50 points.
