MEQUON, Wis. – The Bulldogs of Adrian spoiled the home opener for the Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon. Adrian improves to 6-1 with the 17-6 victory.
Adrian outscored Concordia in the first quarter, 7-0.
Junior Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) started the scoring when she picked up the loose ball in front of the net and swooped it past the goalie off a pass from senior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.).
Nine minutes later, Katelyn Cardinale struck again on a free position shot.
Kami McCardle scored in the final minute of the first half off an assist to sophomore Carolyn Bourgeault (Buffalo, N.Y.).
Katelyn Cardinale scored her third goal of the game with 10:59 left in the third quarter off another assist from Kami McCardle.
The two flipped the script a minute later, with McCardle finding the back of the net with an assist from Cardinale.
The Falcons took advantage of a late card, and sophomore Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) scored the final goal of the contest after charging at the net.
Sophomore Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) had 12 saves against the Bulldogs.
Adrian held a 41-18 advantage in shots on Saturday. Katelyn Cardinale led the flock with eight.
Senior Ava Karlov (Naperville, Ill.) collected a game-time six ground balls.
The Falcons caused 18 turnovers on the afternoon and junior Delainey McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) led the way with four.
The six goals are the second-most against for Adrian. The highest was the 9-12 loss to Ohio Northern.
Concordia looks to bounce back on Wednesday at Carthage.
