Falcons Tripped up at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team hit its first road bump of the season on Sunday afternoon at Trine. The Falcons fell for the first time of the year with a close 227.130 to 228.055 battle. The Falcons are now 5-1 on the year.

CUW posted higher scores in eight heats and three events on Sunday.

The Falcons started out with an early lead, tying their season-best score in the compulsory event with 32.65 points. CUW scored 9.30 points in the pyramid heat and 9.35 points in the toss heat and a season-best 6.15 points in the tumbling heat.

Concordia added to the lead with a season-best 25.20 points in the acro event. The five-element heat scored a season-high 8.65 points and the six-element heat reached new heights at 7.55 points. The seven-element heat landed 9.00 points.

Trine took a bite out of the lead in the pyramid event with the Falcons scoring 26.25 points. The inversion pyramid reached a season-best 9.60 points and the open pyramid also had a season-best score of 9.65 points.

The Falcons elevated the lead with 24.80 points in the toss event. The 450 salto took the high water mark with 8.90 points.

After the tumbling event, the Thunder rumbled into the lead, where CUW scored 41.00 points. The trio pass secured a season-best 7.200 points with junior Ainslee Taylor (Alton, Mich.), sophomore Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.), and senior Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.). The open pass scored 7.650 points with Cadia Sanders.

The Blue and White finished with 77.23 points in the team event, edged out by Trine's 77.88.

The Falcons finish the regular season on March 29 at Augustana in South Dakota.
