No. 4 Augustana Tops Acrobatics & Tumbling

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics and tumbling team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon on a road trip to South Dakota. The Falcons faced the fourth-ranked Vikings of Augustana. The Blue and Gold showed why they are one of the best teams in the nation with a 268.555 to 227.920 victory.

The Falcons started the day with 32.45 points in the compulsory event. The 9.40 points in the pyramid heat tied the best performance of the season.

Concordia collected 23.20 points in the acro event on Saturday.

The Birds scored nine points or more in all three pyramids for the second time this year. The inversion scored 9.25 and the synchronized scored 9.15 points. CUW had a season-best 9.70 points in the open pyramid.

The toss event scored 24.15 points, with the 450 salto toss tying the best score of the year at 8.95 points.

CUW had its best outing in the tumbling event on the season with 42.20 points. The trio pass scored a season-best 7.30 points with junior Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.), sophomore Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.), and senior Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.). The quad pass reached 6.00 points for the first time this year with junior Jadyn Vail (Belvidere, Ill.), sophomore Gabby Dixon (Elkhorn, Wis.), freshman Jenna Gardner (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Anna Kickbush (Theinsville, Wis.). The open pass ended with a season-best 7.725 points with Cadia Sanders.

The Falcons ended the day with 77.82 points in the team event.

Concordia Wisconsin finished the regular season with a 5-2 record.

The Falcons will be the no. 3 seed at the NCATA Division III Invitational in April in Buffalo, New York.
