Falcons Bounce Buffalo State in D3 Quarterfinals

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team competed in the NCATA Division III Invitational Quarterfinals on Thursday night. The Falcons advanced with a 226.090 to 186.150 victory over Buffalo State.

The victory sends the Falcons to 6-2 on the year.

The Falcons outscored the Bengals in 15 of the 18 heats and in all six events.

Concordia took an early lead with 31.125 points in the compulsory event.

The Blue and White extended the lead with 25.075 points in the acro event and 9.075 points in the seven-element heat. The six-element heat tied the season-best score at 7.55 points

The Birds brought in a season-best 28.200 points in the pyramid heat and scored nine or more points in all three pyramids.

CUW secured 23.100 points in the toss event on Thursday.

The tumbling event brought in a season-best 43.400 points for the Birds. The quad pass collected a season-best 6.05 points with junior Jadyn Vail (Belvidere, Ill.), sophomore Gabby Dixon (Elkhorn, Wis.), freshman Jenna Gardner (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Anna Kickbush (Thiensville, Wis.). All three individual passes all had season-best marks with junior Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.) in the aerial pass at 7.725, the six-element pass with senior Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.) at 7.925 and the open pass with sophomore Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.) at 7.775 points.

Concordia closed the evening with 75.190 points in the team event.

Concordia Wisconsin and Trine are the only two schools to qualify for all four semifinals. 

The Falcons will take on Texas Lutheran in the NCATA Division III Semifinals on Friday afternoon. Mary-Hardin Baylor will take on Trine in the other semifinal contest.
