BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Falcons were bested on Friday afternoon at the NCATA Division III Invitational in the semifinal round. Texas Lutheran advanced to the finals with a 237.875 to 227.810 victory.
The Falcons finish the season with a 6-3 record.
Concordia claimed an early lead with 33.175 points in the compulsory event. The performance was the best of the year for the Falcons, and they had season-best scores in the pyramid heat with 9.55 points and 6.600 points in the tumbling heat.
Texas Lutheran took the lead in the acro event when the Falcons tallied 23.400 points.
For the fourth time this year, CUW scored nine or more points in all three pyramids and recorded 28 points in the event.
The Blue and White brought in 23.875 points in the toss event.
The Birds scored a season-best 43.450 points in the tumbling event on Friday. The trio pass picked up a season-best 7.225 points with junior Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.), sophomore Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.) and senior Ellen Marie Sanders. The aerial pass with Ainslee Taylor reached a season-high 8.075 points and the six-element pass with Ellen Marie Sanders peaked with a season-best 8.00 points.
The Falcons closed the day with 75.910 points in the team event.
Mary-Hardin Baylor advanced in the other semifinal contest with a 257.370 to 207.265 victory over Trine. The Crusaders have won the previous two titles after the Falcons claimed the first title in 2022.
The senior class of Amanda Owens, Lexie Pfeifle, Ellen Marie Sanders, Miranda Maciejewski and Madisen Arendt finished their careers as the winningest class in program history with 18 total victories and with one NCATA Division III title.
CUW closes the book on the 2025 season on Saturday night at the NCATA Division III Invitational Event Finals. The Falcons qualified for six events.
