Record Falls For Falcons in Win Over Wisconsin Lutheran

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's volleyball team remained undefeated against Wisconsin Lutheran with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night. The Falcons improved to 5-14 on the year and to 3-5 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with the 25-17, 25-17, 18-25, 25-23 victory.

The Falcons and Warriors had a back-and-forth start to the match with 12 ties and four lead changes. Leading 15-14, the Falcons used a 6-0 run to break away. A kill from junior Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) gave the Falcons the set at 25-17. The Falcons landed three service aces in the first set, with aces from senior Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.), sophomore Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) and freshman Reid Scott (Chandler, Ariz.).

The Blue and White jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the second set, capped off with a kill from Kellen Gonzales. The biggest lead came at 23-14 with an attacking error, and a kill from senior Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) ended the set at 25-17.

The Warriors flipped the script in the third set and jumped out to an early 12-6 lead. A kill from Tate Miller tied the set at 16, but the Warriors won the next four points to get some separation and won the set at 25-18.

The Falcons threw the first punch in the fourth set and elevated the lead to 9-4 with a kill from Chase Ammons. The Warriors did not fade into the darkness and even claimed a late lead at 20-19. The two teams tied at 21, 22, and 23 before Chase Ammons had a thunderous block to give the Falcons match point, and a kill from Tate Miller ended the set.

Junior Parker Pearson (Keller, Texas) broke the school record with 22 digs in a four-set match.

Tate Miller finished with a double-double performance with a team-high 14 kills and 12 digs.

Logan Kebisek dished out 37 assists in the victory.

Lucas Beres and Chase Ammons led the Falcons with five blocks.

Reid Scott reached 10 kills, and Kellen Gonzales had 11 digs for the Birds.

Wisconsin Lutheran entered the match ranking second in the NACC with 1.62 service aces per set and were held to one on the evening.

The Falcons return to action on Thursday night at home against Marian. The Sabres head into the match with an 11-12 record and a 4-4 mark in conference play.
