Softball Sweeps MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team picked up two key Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victories on Monday afternoon. The Falcons brought out the brooms with 3-0 and 14-0 victories on Monday to improve to 21-9 and 12-4 in the NACC.

The Falcons found their way onto the scoreboard in the first inning in game one.

Junior Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) singled to centerfield to score sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) from second base.

Sophomore Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) iced the MSOE bats on Monday and had 1-2-3 innings in the second and fifth innings.

Rylie DuVal started the sixth inning with a shot to shortstop. She then scored on a double into the gap in left-center field from junior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.).

Senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) added to the lead in the seventh inning with a home run to left field.

Sophomore Kylie Strupp (Slinger, Wis.) came into the circle in the seventh inning and earned the save with two strikeouts to end the game.

Nora Statz had two hits in game one.

Jess Pozezinski and Jenna Shadoski both stole a base in the victory.

Emma Shellstrom held the Raiders to four hits and had two strikeouts in her eighth victory of the year.

Game two was all Falcons and started with seven runs in the first inning.

Nora Statz started the scoring with a single up the middle of the infield that scored senior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) and Jenna Shadoski.

Senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) with a single to left field that plated Rylie DuVal from second base.

A laser off the bat of sophomore Kaitlyn Way (Blaine, Minn.) scored Jasmine Freeze.

Sophomore Jenna Lischka (Manitowoc, Wis.) cleared the bases with a triple into the gap in left-center field that scored senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) and Kaitlyn Way.

Jess Pozezinski recorded her 200th career hit in her second at-bat of the inning on a single that scored Jenna Lischka.

The Raiders reached third base for the first time in the first inning, but a groundout to Jasmine Freeze ended the threat

CUW scored six more runs in the second inning.

The Raiders walked Adrianna Martinez with the bases loaded to allow Rylie DuVal to waltz across home plate. Jasmine Freeze then scored on a passed ball.

Jenna Lischka cleared the bases with a single up the middle that scored Kaitlyn Way and Adrianna Martinez.

The Raiders put in a new pitcher, but Jess Pozezinski doubled to centerfield to score Lischka from first base. Pozezinski then scored on a single to right field from Jenna Shadoski.

MSOE tried to score in the second inning on a single, but Nora Statz threw home, and an acrobatic toss from Megan Bloyer to Jasmine Freeze at the plate kept MSOE scoreless.

The final run of the day came off the bat of Jasmine Freeze, who scored Rylie DuVal in the third inning.

In the fifth inning, sophomore Kendall Lemke (Helenville, Wis.) had her first career walk.

Jasmine Freeze earned her sixth win of the season and only had two hits in three innings. Sophomore Kylie Van de Loo (Menasha, Wis.) only had one hit in two innings and had two strikeouts.

Rylie DuVal stole a base in game two and had three runs and three hits.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday at Alverno.
