MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball team wrapped up their season on a high note, celebrating Senior Day with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Rockford.
The Falcons secured set victories of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-19, finishing the season with a 7-16 overall record and a 5-7 mark in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
The first set saw CUW take control early, jumping out to an 8-4 lead with contributions from freshman Parker Butterfass (Shakopee, Minn.), senior Kellen Gonzales (Milwaukee, Wis.), and senior Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.).
The Falcons' offense and defense clicked as they extended their lead to 18-9. CUW sealed the set with three straight points, highlighted by freshman Reid Scott (Chandler, Ariz.) delivering back-to-back aces to finish 25-12.
Building on their momentum, the Falcons dominated the second set, clinching another 25-12 victory.
Junior Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) and junior Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) were key contributors, with Miller notching four kills on five attempts and Ammons going a perfect 3-for-3. Senior Benjamin Groll (Oak Park, Ill.) also chipped in with five assists.
CUW surged to a 17-6 lead, and freshman Logan Rauter (West Allis, Wis.) kept the pressure on with a service ace for a 21-10 advantage. The set ended with a block by freshman Ryan Burris (Avon, Ind.) and Ammons, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, Concordia continued to dictate play, jumping to a 10-4 lead with senior Antonio Evans (Cedarburg, Wis.) contributing a service ace and Gonzales adding a kill off Kebisek's setup. Despite some late efforts from Rockford, CUW maintained control, extending their lead to 19-10. A combination of Rockford errors and a Groll kill brought the Falcons to match point, where the Regents committed an unforced error, allowing CUW to seal the 25-19 victory and complete the sweep.
Individually, Chase Ammons had a standout performance with eight kills on an impressive .889 hitting percentage, along with two service aces and six blocks. Reid Scott, Tate Miller, and Kellen Gonzales each added six kills, while Miller recorded a season-high five blocks and Gonzales led defensively with seven digs and 11 service receptions. Logan Kebisek orchestrated the offense with a team-high 18 assists.
As a team, the Falcons hit .353, while limiting the Regents to just .047. CUW also dominated at the net with 8.5 blocks compared to Rockford's two, and excelled from the service line with eight aces.
With the season now behind them, the Falcons will turn their focus to next year's campaign.
