MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team faced a tough challenge in the home opener on Wednesday afternoon. The Duhawks of Loras flew east as the fourth-ranked team in the region and secured a 4-1 victory to improve to 2-0-1 on the young season. The Falcons are now 0-1-3 in 2025.
The Duhawks were able to strike first on Wednesday with a loose ball in front of the cage.
Loras struck again with another goal in the 30th minute and held that lead into halftime.
The Purple and Gold doubled the lead early in the second half.
In the 62nd minute, junior Lanie Czerkies (Joliet, Ill.) had a great shot from just outside of the box that curved into the upper-far corner of the Falcons' first shot of the day.
The Concordia goal was the first goal Loras had allowed all season.
Junior Kara Claussner (St. Charles, Ill.) collected a career-best 13 saves on the afternoon.
Loras held a 17-1 advantage on Wednesday in shots and a 10-0 margin in corner kicks.
Concordia returns home again on Saturday to face Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
