LISLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer team opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) schedule on Wednesday night at Benedictine. The Falcons improved to 2-1-3 on the young season with a 3-0 victory in Illinois.
Sophomore Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) showed off her track star speed when she ran past the defense and cut through one last defender to send the ball and out of the reach of the diving goalie in the 15th minute.
The Falcons controlled a majority of the possession in the first half and held a 6-0 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes.
Jacey Read soared again in the second half when she was surrounded by seven Eagles and out ran the pack, sent her first shot off the far post but collected the rebound and tapped the ball into the net for her second goal.
Benedictine tossed one shot on net in the 56th minute and junior Kara Claussner (St. Charles, Ill.) collected her lone save of the evening.
Senior Brei Rozmiarek (West De Pere, Wis.) scored in the final minute of the match as freshman Koffy'e Chappel (Oakland, Calif.) help pull defenders off a cross from sophomore Hailey Whittow (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).
Wednesday was the second two-goal performance in Jacey Read's career. The other was against Marian on Oct. 16, 2024.
The Falcons held a 19-2 advantage in shots on Wednesday night and a 7-0 margin in corners.
Jacey Read led the contest with five shots.
Claussner and the Concordia defense posted the third shutout of the season.
The Falcons look to continue their winning streak on Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran.
