WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin women's volleyball team fell to No. 2 UW-Whitewater, 0-3, in the first day of the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invite.
After s slow start in the first set, the Falcons offense cause trouble for the Warhawks. During the second frame, CUW kept the game close, not letting the hosts have a larger than three points. In the second set alone, the Falcons had 15 kills, hitting 0.146.
The longest run of the game for the Royal Blue and Grey came in the third set. Kicked off by a kill by senior
Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.), the team scored six points uncontested. The run included an ace by Proefeck.
Overall, on the day, Concordia Wisconsin hit 0.34, with 28 kills. Leading the team in kills was freshman
Kirsten Krause (Pocatello, Idaho) with eight. Senior
Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Proefrock had seven and five kills, respectively. Falcons' setter
Emily Dickmann (Grafton, Wis.) total 15 assists during the game. On defense, senior libero
Brianna Lundt (Rosendale, Wis.) totaled 15 digs. Stickney was a key player on the net, picking up four total digs.
CUW continues their time in Whitewater tomorrow with matches against Pacific Lutheran and No. 24 Berry. The Falcons will play Pacific Lutheran first at 11:00 a.m. and follow with a match against Berry at 1:00 p.m.
