Men's Golf Faced Tough Competition on Day One of Carthage Firebirds Fall Invite

STURTEVANT, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's golf team sits in 15th after the first set of 18 holes at the Carthage Firebirds Fall Classic. Today's round was held at Ives Grove Golf Links
 
The Falcons are up against some tough competition is this tournament with Illinois Wesleyan and NACC rival Aurora being ranked in the top-10 in the recent Golf Coaches Association of America (CGAA) top-25 poll.
 
Freshman Jack MacGillis is tied for 28th after 18 holes. MacGillis shot three over par with the help of four birdies. Sophomore Tyler Klett (Paw Paw, Mich.) is three strokes behind his teammate at +6 and has a share of 55th.
 
Sophomore Dylan Smith (Amherst, Wis.) sits at eight over par, his teammate sophomore Ray Baldus (Mayville, Wis.) is just one stroke behind him. Smith is tied for 74th and Baldus is in T-85th. Freshman Grant Hamm completed the round +16 and sits in T-102nd.
 
The Falcons return to action tomorrow with competition shifting to Strawberry Creek Golf Club in Kenosha, Wis. Tee-times are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
