ACHA Hockey Bests Marquette in NCHL Black Finale

 BROOKFIELD, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA men's ice hockey team closed the book on Northern Collegiate Hockey League Black Division play on Saturday night at Marquette. The Falcons grounded the Golden Eagles with a 5-3 victory to improve to 18-10 and finish in second place in the NCHL Black Division at 8-2-0.

Marquette struck first with a pair of first-period goals to take an early lead on Saturday night.

It was all Falcons from there as the Falcons blasted four goals into the net in the second period.

Senior Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.) started the scoring early on the power play with helpers from senior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Dominic Murano (Milwaukee, Wis.).

Four minutes later, Dominic Murano lit the lamp for the Birds.

Senior Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) tied the game for Concordia off a senior McCarthy Clark (Chicago, Ill.) assist.

Junior Owen Almburg (Glenville, Ill.) scored the game-winning goal to close the period with sophomore Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) and McCarthy Clark adding the assist.

Dominic Murano closed the scoring in the period off assists from freshman Connor Corrlet (Chicago, Ill.) and Garrett Wilderman.

Senior Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) earned the victory in the net.

The Falcons return to action on Friday at St. Thomas. The Tommies rank second in the ACHA Central Region with 12.519 points, ranking fourth overall in the nation.
