MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team rolled past Concordia Chicago, 107-82, at home Wednesday night. The win marks just the third time this season that the Falcons have eclipsed the 100-point mark and improves CUW to 10-9 overall and 8-4 in NACC play. The Royal Blue and Grey also continued their dominance over the Cougars, winning their sixth straight meeting and improving to 35-5 in the all-time series.
The night was also a milestone moment for senior
Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.), who surpassed 1,000 career points. Landers reached the mark with a layup in the opening minute of the second half.
Concordia Wisconsin controlled the game from the opening tip and never relinquished the lead. Landers scored the first seven points of the contest, setting the tone early. Each time Concordia Chicago responded, the Falcons answered, taking a 49-38 lead into halftime.
The Falcons broke the game open midway through the second half with an 11-3 run. Junior
Jacob Christjohn (Milwaukee, Wis.) ignited the surge with a three-pointer, while Landers added six points and junior
Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) capped the run with a driving layup.
CUW continued to pull away late, outscoring the Cougars 20-9 over the final six minutes while shooting 6-of-9 from the floor. Senior
Will Bauer (New Berlin, Wis.) scored the final points of the night for the Falcons with a dunk and two free throws in the closing minute, marking his first points of the season.
Landers delivered a dominant performance, finishing 12-of-17 from the field with 35 points and 19 rebounds. The outing marked his 13th double-double of the season and the 22nd of his career, setting a new program record. The previous mark of 21 career double-doubles was held by Brandon Keller (2021–22). Landers also led the team with eight assists and two blocks.
Verhagen also reached double figures, scoring 22 points while leading the Falcons from beyond the arc at 4-of-7. Freshman
Alex Greene (Milwaukee, Wis.) added an efficient 11 points, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from three-point range.
Concordia Wisconsin will hit the road Saturday for a 7 p.m. matchup at MSOE. The Falcons will look for redemption after falling to the Raiders in double overtime earlier this season.
