Falcons Drop Four-Set Match to No. 20 MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball team fell to No. 20 Milwaukee School of Engineering in four sets on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons drop to 1-12 overall and 1-3 in NACC play.

After dropping the opening set, CUW responded in the second. Trailing early, the Falcons used a seven-point unanswered run to surge ahead 16-14. During the stretch, senior Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) recorded two service aces and a kill, while senior Will Wood (Savage, Minn.) added a putaway. MSOE rallied to extend the frame, but sophomore Parker Butterfass (Shakopee, Minn.) closed the set with a solo block followed by a kill to even the match.

The Raiders regained control in the third set to take a 2-1 lead. CUW battled again in the fourth, erasing a deficit with a five-point run to tie the score at 16. Butterfass delivered two more aces during the rally, and sophomore Owen Kolozsy (Carol Stream, Ill.) contributed a pair of kills. MSOE withstood the push, however, and secured the match with a 25-23 win in the final set.

Kolozsy posted his third straight double-double with team highs of 11 kills and 11 digs. Butterfass matched him with 11 kills while hitting .474 and added four aces and five blocks. Sophomore setter Hayden Hurley (Gilbert, Ariz.) dished out 19 assists.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday at St. Norbert College. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center in De Pere, Wis.
