ACHA Hockey Crushes Aurora in Hap Cup Quarterfinals

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's ACHA hockey team cruised to the Hap Cup Semifinals on Friday afternoon with a convincing 8-2 victory over Aurora. The victory extends the Falcons winning streak to three games and sends the Birds to 21-13 on the year.

Junior Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) started the scoring in the fifth minute of the game off an assist from sophomore Tyler Reinke (Franklin, Wis.).

In the second period, senior Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.) doubled the lead.

Chuck Emme netted his second goal of the game off assist from sophomore Dominic Murano (Milwaukee, Wis.) and freshman Jackson Lord (Mequon, Wis.)

Aurora capitalized on a power play to open the third period on Friday.

Emme earned the hat trick to start the third period scoring for the Falcons.

Andrew Malek lit the lamp again 13 seconds later off a feed from sophomore Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.).

Three minutes later, Dominic Murano scored off a Tommy Cassel assist.

Aurora struck again halfway through the period, but CUW bounced back with an Andrew Malek goal off a junior Owen Almburg (Glenville, Ill.) assist.

Chuck Emme netted his fourth goal of the day to close the scoring on the power play with Andrew Malek and Dominic Murano adding the assists.

Junior Ryley Gross (Hazenmore, Saskatchewan) finished with 20 saves in the victory.

The Falcons will face a tough test in the semifinals against the Marian Sabres. Top-seeded Purdue Northwest will face Marquette in the other semifinal contest.
