Men’s Basketball Downed in De Pere

DE PERE, Wis. – The Falcons faced the first-place Green Knights of St. Norbert on Saturday afternoon. The Green and Gold improved to 13-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with the 91-79 victory.

St. Norbert was able to claim an early lead on Saturday afternoon, but a three-point basket from sophomore Luke Eggemeyer (Perryville, Mo.) gave the Falcons an 11-9 lead five minutes into the contest.

Both teams exchanged the lead back and forth throughout the first half until SNC took the lead back for good with a 10-2 run.

The Green and Gold were able to weather some CUW runs and held a 44-37 lead going into halftime.

SNC ballooned the lead up to 11 points on four occasions and led 63-52 with 11:12 left before the Falcons surged back with a 14-5 run over the next three minutes and a freshman Alex Greene (Milwaukee, Wis.) three-point basket made it a one-possession game.

The Falcons cut the lead to two once again at 68-70, but could not break even on Saturday evening.

The second half saw senior Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) break the NACC record for free throws made in a season, surpassing Marquis Turley of Dominican from the 2009-10 season.

CUW featured a balanced attack on Saturday, with nine players scoring. Junior Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the way with 16, while Alex Greene and Logan Landers had 13, Luke Eggemeyer finished with 11 and junior Severin Hilt (West Bend, Wis.) was at 10.

Logan Landers led the flock with six rebounds, while Casey Verhagen had five steals and four assists.

The Falcons look to get back on track on Wednesday night at Illinois Tech.
