ADRIAN, Mich. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's ice hockey team dropped its second game of the weekend to No. 4 Adrian, falling 8-1 on Saturday evening. The loss moves the Falcons to 9-12-1 on the season and 6-9-1 in conference play.
Adrian controlled the pace throughout the contest, but the Falcons were able to break through early against the Bulldogs' defense.
CUW's lone goal came just 7:27 into the first period on the power play. Following a line change, junior
Riley Klugerman (Aurora, Ont.) gained control of the puck and initiated the play, sending a pass to sophomore
Levi Carter (Keremeos, B.C.). Carter then found sophomore
Connor Van Weelie (Mississauga, Ont.) positioned in front of the net, where the sophomore buried a slapshot into the top-right corner. The goal marked Van Weelie's 12th of the season and 16th of his collegiate career.
Van Weelie led the Falcons with five shots on goal and also paced the team at the faceoff circle with eight wins. Junior
Matt Koepke (Vernon Hills, Ill.) added four shots in the effort.
Junior
Blake Hazelton (Lake Orion, Mich.) and sophomore
