MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball team dropped a close match to No. 11 Aurora, 3–1, on Friday night. With the result, the Falcons move to 2-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The Falcons opened the match with a statement, stunning the Spartans by taking the first set 26-24. The teams battled point-for-point early in the contest, but a kill from sophomore
Reid Scott (Chandler, Ariz.) followed by an Aurora attack error sealed the set for Concordia Wisconsin.
Aurora responded by taking the next three sets, but the Falcons continued to battle throughout the match against the nationally ranked opponent.
Sophomore
Owen Kolozsy (Carol Stream, Ill.) led the Falcons offensively with 11 kills while hitting .235. Scott also reached double figures with 10 kills. Sophomore
Hayden Hurley (Gilbert, Ariz.) recorded his first double-double of his career, finishing with 36 assists and 11 digs.
Senior
Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) added 11 digs and led the Royal Blue and Grey with two service aces. Freshman
Cooper Dammann (Altadena, Calif.) served as the primary libero and finished with seven digs.
At the net, CUW totaled eight blocks. Senior
Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) and Scott each recorded three block assists, while senior
Will Wood (Savage, Minn.), sophomore
Parker Butterfass (Shakopee, Minn.), and Miller added solo blocks.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow at Edgewood University. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the Todd Wehr Edgedome in Madison, Wisconsin.
