Falcons Come Up Short Against Lake Forest at Home

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team fell to Lake Forest, 15-9, on Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field. The Falcons drop to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Lake Forest opened the scoring with a free-position goal nearly three minutes into the contest, but senior Katelyn Cardinale (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) answered just 2:41 later with an unassisted, man-up goal. After a brief tie, the Foresters surged ahead, closing the first period on a 4-0 run to take a 5-1 lead.

Senior Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) recorded her second career hat trick in the second quarter, but CUW trailed 10-4 heading into halftime.

The Falcons found more rhythm offensively in the second half, scoring five goals. Junior Emily Robertson (Plymouth, Mich.) netted three, while Cardinale added two more. However, Lake Forest maintained control throughout, matching CUW's second-half output and securing the 15-9 victory.

Cardinale finished with three goals, tying the program's all-time career record of 218, matching Lauren Paquin (2016–2019). Robertson also posted a hat trick—her sixth of the season. Junior Carolyn Bourgeault (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied two assists, while Claire Geidel and Cardinale each added one.

CUW excelled in clears, going 18-for-19 on the day. Robertson led the Falcons with six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Junior Naomi Black (Ottawa, Ont.) and Spejcher each collected three ground balls.

In goal, junior Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) made 11 saves in the loss.

The Falcons will travel to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, April 15, for their final road game of the regular season against Marian. CUW has won all eight previous meetings against the Sabres. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m. at Smith Field.
