MEQUON, Wis. – It was all Falcons on a chilly Sunday afternoon at The Concordia Wisconsin Tennis Courts. The Concordia Wisconsin men's tennis team closed regular season play with a 7-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran. The victory sends Concordia to 12-6 on the year and to 3-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Bird was the word on the doubles courts on Sunday.
Freshman Gustavo Funo (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil) and freshman Renan Botelho (Itatiba, Brazil) brought out the brooms on court three with the 6-0 victory.
Sophomore Hayden Latus (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Murilo Zeni (Curitiba, Brazil) made quick work of WLC at No. 1 doubles with the 6-1 victory,
Sophomore Ryan Bilan (Greendale, Wis.) and junior Kristopher Greenhaw (Huntington Beach, Calif.) grounded the Green and White at No. 2 doubles, 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, Hayden Latus cruised over Connor Heezen, 6-0, 6-1.
Murilo Zeni crushed Cameron Borchert at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Gustavo Funo tore apart TaDarion Perkins at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Ryan Bilan bounced back at No. 4 singles after dropping the first set and too the second set from Myles Harris, 6-4 and won the third-set tiebreaker, 10-3.
Renan Botelho bounced Aidan Mattek at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Kristopher Greenhaw zapped Zach Nelson at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
With the victory, the Falcons secured the fourth seed in the NACC Men's Tennis Tournament and will host Edgewood on April 28. Wisconsin Lutheran finishes the year at 0-12.
