GLENDALE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's tennis team opened postseason play on Tuesday in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Tennis Tournament Quarterfinals. The Falcons faced a familiar foe in the Edgewood University Eagles. The Blue and White improved to 14-6 on the season with a 4-0 victory.
The morning started with a 7-5 victory for freshman Murilo Zeni (Curitiba, Brazil) and sophomore Hayden Latus (Waukesha, Wis.) at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Gustavo Funo (Sao Jose dos Campos) and freshman Renan Botelho (Itatiba, Brazil) won the doubles point for the Falcons with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Renan Botelho brought in the first singles point with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Marek Woytasik at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore Ryan Bilan (Greendale, Wis.) bounced Andrew Hoffmann at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Murilo Zeni clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jon Olafsson at No. 2 singles.
The victory sets up a date with Illinois Tech on Friday night in Chicago in the NACC Tournament Semifinals.
