LA CROSSE, Wis. – The NCAA announced its qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday night, and the Concordia University Wisconsin women's track & field team will be represented on the national stage by a pair of standout distance runners.
The dynamic duo of senior Ainara Sainz de Rozas (Madrid, Spain) and junior Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) both earned qualifying spots in the 10,000-meter run, showcasing the strength of the Falcons' distance program at the highest level.
Sainz de Rozas enters the national meet as one of the top contenders in the country. She owns the second-fastest time in Division III this season in the 10,000 meters at 34:02.86, a mark she set against elite competition at the Drake Relays. Ahrens also punched her ticket with an impressive performance, recording the 22nd-fastest time nationally at 35:38.04 at St. Francis.
In addition to the 10,000 meters, Sainz de Rozas will double up and compete in the 5,000-meter run, where she holds the third-fastest time in Division III at 16:17.01, set earlier this season at Wisconsin-Platteville. Her versatility and consistency across distances make her a key figure to watch throughout the championship meet.
The 10,000-meter race is scheduled for Thursday night, while the 5,000-meter run will take place Saturday afternoon.
This year's selections mark a historic milestone for the program, as it is the first time Concordia Wisconsin has qualified multiple student-athletes for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the same season—another sign of the program's continued rise.
The championships will be held at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
