MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Department of Athletic Communications has announced Carolyn Bourgeault as the recipient of the Department of Athletic Communications Student of the Year (DACSOTY) Award.
A junior from Buffalo, New York, Bourgeault earns the honor for the first time in her career after a standout year of service and dedication to the department.
The award is voted on by the CUW Athletic Communications staff and student workers. To qualify, a student must demonstrate high character and a positive attitude, work effectively with staff, coaches, student-athletes, and administration, show a willingness to go above and beyond, and consistently produce high-quality work.
Bourgeault embodied all of those qualities throughout the academic year, playing an integral role in the success of the department's daily operations. She assisted in preparing for and executing gameday operations, helped organize and run media days, contributed to website maintenance, and handled statistics for home contests.
Her impact was especially evident during the fall semester, when she stepped into an even larger role during one of the busiest stretches of the year.
"Carolyn has been nothing short of the backbone of our office this year," said Director of Athletic Communication Jeremy Crawford. "Especially during the fall semester, when things were challenging for myself and the office, she stepped in and quite honestly saved us more times than we can count. Her work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to go above and beyond set her apart every single day. This recognition is incredibly well deserved, and we are so grateful for everything she has done for our department."
In addition to earning DACSOTY honors, Bourgeault was also recognized at the university level as a Concordia University Wisconsin Student Employee of the Year, further highlighting her commitment and impact across campus.
Bourgeault's recognition reflects not only her individual excellence, but also the lasting impression she has made on the CUW Athletic Communications department.
