MEQUON, Wis. – The new era of Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis got off to a triumphant start. The Falcons claimed a 4-3 victory to open the head coaching career of Ricki Budewitz.
The duo of freshman Taylor Peterson (Manitowoc, Wis.) and freshman Jordin Popp (Manitowoc, Wis.) cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles on Tuesday.
Senior Payton Steward (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Samantha Behling (Brookfield, Wis.) secured the doubles point with a 7-5 victory on court two.
Jordin Popp plowed down Natasa Pupovac at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 2 singles, Samantha Behling bounced Katherine Trifillio, 6-3, 7-5.
Sophomore Abigail Hailey (Frohna, Mo.) was victorious over Mia Franke at No. 4 singles, 7-6 (2), 6-4.
The Falcons will rest up and prepare for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on September 12 at Concordia Chicago and Illinois Tech.
