Jose Matamoros

Jose Matamoros, a Waupun, Wisconsin native, is currently in his second season as an Assistant Coach for the Men's NCAA Division III program at Concordia University Wisconsin. He also was selected to be included in year four of the NHLCA's BIPOC program beginning this fall, 2023. Prior to CUW, Jose spent the 2020-22 seasons as the associate head coach for the Marquette University High School hockey team where he helped formulate the special team systems and ran the defense. Jose also was the assistant coach for the Milwaukee Power (NA3HL) in the 2020-21 season, where he ran the defense and assisted with recruitment. Several of the Power players from that season went on to play collegiate hockey. Prior to Marquette and Milwaukee, Jose served as the Head Coach for the Beaver Dam Golden Beavers High School Varsity Hockey team in the WIAA, where he led the program to a 30-17-4 overall record over two seasons, and led them to the program's second-ever Sectional Final game in 2019. Those two seasons were the first winning seasons the program saw in over 14 years. 

As a player, Jose spent his youth years playing locally for the Waupun Youth Hockey Association. He switched from being a defensive player to a goalie in his first year as a Bantam, and continued with the position all through college. Jose played high school hockey for his local high school before revamping the ACHA D2 program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall of 2009. He spent four seasons playing for the Panthers in Milwaukee, as well as, being the team Treasurer and Scheduler. Jose also led the charge on creating the new Sport and Recs Program for all the club sports at UWM. He graduated from UWM in the Spring of 2013 with an Accounting and Finance degree. Upon graduation, Jose became a professional baseball umpire in the minor leagues of Major League Baseball and currently serves as a crew chief at the AAA level.
