"Just about everybody pitched and absolutely everybody hit," was
one coach's assessment of the non-conference donnybrook between the
Falcons (16-12) and #17 Carthage (23-5) yesterday afternoon…
and evening.
After falling behind 6-0 by the 4th inning, CUW came back with a
vengeance to take an 8-7 lead into the 9th when a crucial Falcon
error allowed Carthage to tie the score and send the game into
extra innings.
The Falcons got 4 hits including a home run from Jon Olla and
another 2 run blast from Derrick Pankow but those feats could not
offset a 25 hit barrage by the visitors.
A pair of towering 11th inning home runs by the Red Men finally
settled the issue after almost 4 hours of game time. CUW, 10-3 in
the NAC, has a crucial doubleheader against Dominican in West Bend
Saturday beginning at noon.
