Lisle, Illinois -
Concordia 6 Benedictine 1
For the first time since picking up a hard earned 1-0 victory
against Aurora on September 18th, the Falcons men's soccer program
returned to Northern Athletics Conference play on Saturday,
recording a convincing 6-1 win at Benedictine.
Sophomore Carl Haynes, who just missed scoring a goal on
Thursday against North Central, didn't just come close this time
around but placed the ball in the net on two seperate occasions.
Jason Rogers took a direct kick and scored his second goal of the
year only 2:04 into the first half, before Trevor Hess kicked in
his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Haynes first goal of
the game then came 53 seconds before halftime.
Up 3-0 at the break, the Falcons came back out and continued to
control the flow of the game. Bryan Samuel scored two goals to
highlight the second half, with Haynes second goal sandwiched in
between. By the time all was said and done, Concordia had scored
six goals and outshot the Eagles 18-3.
Thomas Anderson got the start between the posts for the Falcons,
before Samuel Ische came in relief for the final 28 plus minutes.
Anderson wasn't tested, while Ische allowed one goal and made a
pair of saves.
The win upped the CUW record to 6-2-2 overal and 2-0 in the
conference, keeping pace with 3-0 Dominican and Edgewood in the NAC
standings. Up next the Lakeland College Muskies come to town on
Tuesday, battling the Falcons at 4pm from Fitting Field.
