Benedictine (3-0) owns sole possession of first place in the NAC
after defeating Concordia 32- 6 Saturday afternoon in Lisle,
Illinois.
The high-powered Eagles scored points in each quarter while holding
CUW to a pair of Dan Winsey field goals and dropping the Falcons to
2-1 in league play.
After gaining first quarter possession, the hosts marched 40 yards
in 6 plays for the game's first score. Earl Preston hit Mike
Trombetta with an 18 yard scoring strike.
With just :06 left in that initial canto, John Stolarski booted a
28 yard field goal following a 48 yard drive to make it 10-0
BU.
Benedictine made it 16-0 on a John Borsellino run midway through
quarter number two before Dan Winsey got CUW on the board with a 47
yard field goal.
Stolarski booted a second field goal in the third period and
Borsellino snared a TD pass from Preston to make it 25-3.
Once again it was Winsey providing the Falcon highlight as he
pounded home a 51 yard field goal to close out the quarter.
Borsellino was at it one final time before the 4th quarter ended as
his 8 yard race to paydirt completed the day's scoring.
Greg Etter's team had 121 rushing yards, paced by Carlton Austin's
49, but CUW quarteback Pat Czerwiek was just 7-26 through the air
and had 2 passes intercepted.
Andrew Hobus and Ben Bobowski combined for 24 tackle points to lead
Concordia defensively.
