Lake Forest, IL
Concordia battled toe-toe with Lake Forest, earning a 3-2 third
period lead before the Foresters (17-2-4) got a couple of power
play tallies to take the lead and then held on to win.
"We played at least 58 minutes of very good hockey and deserved a
better fate," offered CUW's Jim Ingman.
"The little mistakes add up over the course of a game, but today
we were better than they were- except for their power play
opportunities."
Alyssa Isaackson broke a scoreless tie with a second period goal
and then Concordia countered twice after LF tallies momentarily
tied things up. Jaime Athens had both of the lead-regaining scores
for the Falcons.
It was still 3-2 CUW six minutes into the third period when Lake
Forest turned it on for three separate tallies; two via power
plays.
Amber Cmejla got the Falcons within 5-4 at 18:32 but time ran out.
"We are very close...just a few better decisions away from the
upper echelon of our conference," offered Ingman.
