Derrick Pankow pitched 5 shutout innings against #4 ranked Eastern
Connecticut and the Falcons pounded one of the Nation's top teams
13-7 in their Arizona finale.
Concordia led by just 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th but
the bats got going at that point.
Hits by Dan Mueller and Matt Mayer combined with walks, an error,
and sacrifice fly by Matt Schilter made it 5-0 entering the 7th.
The lead eventually grew to 8-1 before EC rallied for 5 in the 8th
to make it 8-6.
Doubles by Jonathon Olla and Ryan Schilter combined with walks, hit
batters, and an error to provide five more Falcon runs in the
8th.
Eastern Connecticut got one back in the top of the 9th but after a
final ground out CUW was able to celebrate a 13-7 win.
David Enters, Dan Shea, Mueller, and Mayer each had a pair of hits
to pace Val Keiper's team. Pankow imporved to 3-0 with relief help
from Brent Behling.
