Mequon
Derrick Pankow (5-0) remained undefeated as the Concordia
Falcons recorded a 2-1 win over pre-season NAC favorite CU-Chicago
Sunday in Mequon.
Pankow allowed only 4 hits in his complete game win but the
Falcons were also stymied in one hit fashion by Cougar ace Matt
Kudlik until the ninth.
In their final at bat, CUW got hits from Dan Mueller and Jon
Olla before Austin Sarauer's single plated the game-winner.
Brandon Isaac's homer had given CU-Chicago a 1-0 lead in the
second and that held up until Adam Martz' two out single drove in
Dan Shea to tie the contest in the Falcon fifth.
The tense pitching duel was in stark contrast to CUW games to
date. The Falcons had been scoring 12 runs per outing and allowing
11 in their four previous NAC outings.
