This game was expected to be a dogfight between the BEST the NAC
has to offer, but Concordia depth took over in the final eight
minutes as the 10-0 Falcons pulled away from Edgewood 81-66 in the
Buuck Fieldhouse.
Edgewood, now 7-2 in the conference action, stayed close for
most of the contest, trailing 39-34 at the break and keeping within
striking distance until a Luke Doedens flurry made the deficit
insurmountable.
Mitchell Schenider led the way for CUW with 20 points while Luke
Doedens (18) and David Lopez (12) reached double figures. Matt
Paluchniak (9), Cory Stark (9) and Tyler Granrath (8) were all
significant contributors.
Concordia still led by only 59-54 with eight minutes left before
a 16-6 run over the next five minutes put the game away. Doedens
had 10 points during that stretch including a pair of long 3's.
Coach Shawn Cassidy's team (14-2 overall) hosts Rockford on
Saturday at 4:15pm in search of 1000th win in Concordia men's
basketball history.
