Derrick Pankow (6-4) was would not allow his Falcon teammates to
lose, always coming up with the big pitch despite giving up 12 hits
to Aurora (27-11)in a complete game 6-2 win Friday night.
Dan Shea provided the offensive heroics with a pair of booming home
runs and 3 RBIs as CUW improved to 12-8 in conference action.
The contest, like the league's final four NCAA qualifying
tournament, was still very much in doubt until Concordia scored 3
8th inning insurance runs thanks in part to run-scoring doubles by
Daniel Mueller and Adam Martz.
The Falcons host Marian (11-9) at noon on Saturday in another
critical twin bill with their tourney participation on the
line.
Rockford, Edgewood and CUW are all tied for third at 12-8 in
conference action heading into Saturday, but even if all three of
those teams win their final two games today, only two of the three
will make the 4-team NAC playoffs.
Edgewood has a twin bill with Lakeland remaining and Rockford
tangles with Benedictine (11-9) in a doubleheader.
