MEQUON,
Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin men's hockey
team dropped the first game of a weekend "home-and-home" series
against Lake Forest College on Friday night, losing 6-2 at the
Ozaukee Ice Center.
The Foresters got out
to a 4-0 lead after just 15 minutes of play, and the Falcons could
never recover.
CUW (2-13-3, 2-9-2
MCHA) got goals from junior Greg Douglas (Plano, Texas) and
freshman Cole Weiser (Beloit, Wis.) but it wasn't enough as the
visitors ran away with the victory.
Lake Forest (2-16-0,
2-11-0 MCHA) came flying out of the gates, pressuring Falcon
goaltender Billy Sias (Bloomington, Minn.) and finding the back of
the net four times in the first period.
Douglas got one back
for the Falcons with less than five minutes remaining in the
opening frame, finishing off a centering feed from freshman Tanner
Tryggestad (Amery, Wis.).
Weiser then cut the
Foresters' lead in half early in the second period, ripping a point
shot that found its way through traffic and into the back of the
net.
But despite several
other quality scoring chances in the game's latter stages, CUW
couldn't mount a comeback while the Foresters regained their
four-goal advantage with second and third period tallies.
The two teams will meet
again Saturday night inside the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in Lake
Forest, Ill. The game is
scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
