Baseball secures NACC Tournament spot with sweep of Raiders

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Falcons secured a place in the NACC Tournament as Concordia Wisconsin swept MSOE with 9-5 and 12-3 wins in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Falcons 9, Raiders 5 | Falcons 12, Raiders 3
-Records: CUW 17-18 (13-9 NACC), MSOE 11-23 (8-12)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons started the day with a 9-5 win over the Raiders.
-Lukas Meerdink (Oostburg, Wis.) got the win in the opener, giving up four runs on four hits while striking out nine in 6.2 innings pitched.
-At the plate, Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) was 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a walk drawn. The freshman drove in a pair in the first inning with a bases-loaded double down the left field line and later drove in another with an RBI single in the eighth.
-Peter Scott (Dayton, Nev.) also drove in three runs for the Falcons in the win. The senior hit a sac fly in the sixth before driving in two on a double down the left field line in the seventh.
-In game two, the Falcons were even better at the plate and on the mound as they dominated with a 12-3 win, highlighted by a seven-run ninth inning.
-Alex Prickett (Franklin, Wis.) pitched eight innings in the start, giving up only three runs on five hits while striking out four to earn the win.
-Jared Chesak (West Bend, Ill.) led CUW with three RBI in the game on two hits while scoring a run himself. The freshman got the Falcons on the board in the third inning on a single to left that drove in two. He later singled in a run in as part of the seven-run ninth inning the Falcons strung together.
-Eric Paz (Kenosha, Wis.) and Christian Gerner (Mequon, Wis.) each drove in two runs apiece in the win. Paz had an RBI single in both the third and ninth innings, while Gerner drove in a pair with a double in the ninth.
-Drew Barth (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Tyler Haffey (Mount Prospect, Ill.) led CUW with three runs scored each in game two.

-The Falcons face UW-Whitewater in a non-conference game on the road on Sunday, May 5, starting at 1pm.
