WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW baseball team closed the regular season with a win at Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons finish the regular season with a record of 21-9 and at 11-9 in the NACC to earn the No. 3 seed in the NACC North Division Tournament on Friday.
The Warriors won round one of the day with a 3-2 victory in game one.
The Green and White scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead.
Senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard with a single to left field in the second inning to send home junior Jared Chesak (West Bend, Wis.).
WLC got the run back in the third inning.
Johnson struck again in the ninth inning with a single to right field to score senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.).
Junior Ryan Green (Green Bay, Wis.) had a solid start on the sound and recorded three strikeouts. Junior Zach Swift (Longwood, Fla.) struck out two batters in an inning on the mound.
Drew Johnson had two of the Falcons' three hits in game one.
CUW wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the 5-1 victory in game two with three runs in the first inning.
Junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) started the scoring on a sacrifice fly to score junior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.).
Blake Gosswein then knocked a double down the right-field line to send in junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.).
Jared Chesek ended the first-inning scoring with a sacrifice fly to score junior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.).
In the fifth inning, Kyle Kosobucki doubled to right field to score Sean Tillmon.
Johannes Haakenson scored the final run of the day on a single to left field that crossed Jared Chesak safely across home plate.
Junior Zach Lutz (Hartford, Wis.) earned the victory on the mound and junior Beau Wills (Coal City, Ind.) led CUW with two strikeouts.
Sean Tillmon led all batters with three hits in game two.
CUW will take on MSOE on Friday in the NACC Tournament.
