RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Falcons got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon in the Battle of Concordias. CUW defeated Concordia Chicago with a 28-19 victory to improve to 3-1 and to 1-1 in the NACC.
Senior James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) drew first blood on Saturday with a one-yard rush in the first quarter.
Linn extended the lead with a 14-yard pass to sophomore Samuel Campbell Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis.) in the second quarter.
Senior Josiah McDermit (Kansasville, Wis.) then intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown 17 seconds later to push the lead to 21-0.
The Cougars clawed back and cut the lead to 21-13 at halftime.
In the fourth quarter, senior Matt Montgomery (Hillsboro, Texas) ran the ball in from 20 yards to push the lead to 15 points.
James Linn threw for 77 yards on eight completions on Saturday with Tim Houlihan leading the way with 32 yards. Matt Montgomery had 55 yards rushing on 10 attempts.
Senior Connor Stoming (Germantown, Wis.) led the Falcons with nine tackles and two sacks in the victory.
CUW returns home on Saturday for a contest against Rockford.
