Tucson, Ariz. – The CUW baseball team took down Hamline in an extra-inning thriller on Tuesday.
The Falcons started the scoring with three runs on the top of the second inning with a three-RBI double off the bat of senior Brandon Niedfeldt (Roscoe, Ill.). Seniors Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.), Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.), and Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) all crossed the plate to give the Falcons the 3-0 advantage.

Hamline scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to tie that game at six.
The teams remained scoreless through the ninth and gave the fans some free baseball when they went into the tenth inning.
Sophomore Brooks Kalscheur (Middleton, Wis.) blasted a bases-clearing triple in the top of the tenth that scored Johnson, Fike, and senior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.) to push their lead to 9-6.
That wasn't all for the top of the tenth with senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) coming up to the plate and driving in Kalscheur with an RBI single.
Hamline looked to mount a comeback with a run in the bottom of the tenth and the bases loaded, but senior Casey Sauter (South Beloit, Ill.) came in and ended all hopes for that comeback.
The Falcons grabbed 10 runs on 11 hits with only six total strikeouts.
Falcon pitchers secured seven total strikeouts in the ten-inning matchup.
Niedfeldt led the way with four RBIs with Kalschuer close behind at three.
