Women's Lacrosse Blasts Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – The Falcons finally soared on Wednesday night and picked up a 9-3 victory at Beloit. The victory keeps the Blue and White in the race for a spot in the NACC Tournament.

The Buccaneers took control of the contest with a 3-1 advantage in the first quarter. The lone Concordia goal came from sophomore Andra Hansen (Seattle, Wash. off a pass from sophomore Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.).

It was all CUW after that when the Concordia defense did not allow another goal.

Sophomore Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) started the second-quarter scoring 96 seconds into the quarter.

Olivia Niego netted the game-tying goal off a sophomore Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) assist.

Sophomore Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal at the 5:47 mark off a pass from Olivia Niego.

Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) scored with just over a minute to play in the quarter off another assist from Anna Gong to give the birds a 5-3 lead at the break.

Savannah Schweiger snuck the ball past the Beloit keeper in the first minute of the third quarter.

Eliana Fuchs fed Olivia Niego for the final goal of the third quarter.

The Falcons closed the door on the Buccaneers with free-position goals from Eliana Fuchs and Anna Gong in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Madisen Myers (Rosemount, Minn.) picked up her first collegiate victory with eight saves on Wednesday. She also finished with a game-high six ground balls.

Savannah Schweiger snagged three draw controls and Eliana Fuchs finished with two in the victory.

The Falcons held a 28-25 advantage in shots in the victory. Kami McCardle peppered Beloit with a game-high nine shots and four on goal.

Olivia Niego led the game with four points on two goals and two assists. Anna Gong and Eliana Fuchs finished with three points each.

The Falcons look to keep the ball rolling on Thursday against Marian.
