MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW women's lacrosse team took on the Marian Sabres at Fitting Field on Thursday in a make-up game from last week.

The Falcons got off to a hot start with a goal off the stick of freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) in the first 30 seconds. Sophomore Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) netted the second Falcon goal off of a free-position shot just four minutes later.

McCardle and sophomore Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) linked up for the third Falcon goal of the quarter. This was Niego's first goal of the matchup and it came off of a man-up opportunity.

Marian recorded their first goal of the matchup to cut into the Falcon lead.

Niego netted another goal off of a free-position attempt with 5:43 remaining in the quarter to push the Falcons further ahead.

Marian capitalized on a man-up opportunity as well as an even chance and scored two goals to close the quarter.

The Sabres dominated the second quarter with three goals to the Falcon zero. Their first goal was a man-up goal.

The team entered the second half with a 6-4 lead in favor of the Sabres.

Junior Grace Wilshire (Pittsburg, Ppa.) recorded the first goal of her lacrosse career on a man-down opportunity to kick off the third quarter.

Marian tied the matchup at seven with a goal with two minutes left on the clock.

Niego was able to break the tie at the third-quarter buzzer with a shot that snuck past the keeper with time expiring.

The Falcons were able to pull away in the fourth quarter with three goals. Sophomore Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) scored her first goal of the matchup off the feed from Niego to push the Falcons out 9-7.
