Falcons Fall to No. 18 Spartans in Regular-Season Finale

AURORA, Ill. – The CUW baseball team wrapped up their regular season with a doubleheader at No. 18 Aurora on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans never gave up control of either game with a 14-1 victory in game one and a 3-1 victory in game two.

The first four innings of game one saw nine runs for the potent Spartan offense.

The Falcons responded with a run in the top of the fifth inning off the bat of senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) which scored senior Brandon Niedfeldt (Roscoe, Ill.).

The Spartans didn't like that too much and went off for five more runs in the two remaining innings to take the first game in seven innings after a run-rule at 14-1.

The Spartans struck early in game two off an error in the bottom of the second inning.

The Falcons scored their lone run in the top of the fourth off the bat of senior Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) that scored fellow senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.).

Aurora popped off for another run in the bottom of the fourth and their third of the game in the bottom of the fifth to secure the 3-1 lead.

Senior Tristen Largent (Verona, Wis.) went 4-6 from the plate this afternoon.

The Falcons await the final results of other teams in the conference for their spot in the NACC Tournament.
