MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team closed the home portion of the schedule with a thrilling 90-68 victory. The win sends CUW to 8-15 on the year and to 5-10 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
The Stars started off hot on Tuesday and sank four three-point baskets to take an early 20-10 lead. The Blue and Gold pushed the lead up to 13 points with 11:50 left in the first half.
Dominican scored a layup with 7:32 left in the first half to take a 31-19 lead.
The CUW defense did not allow another point in the first half and closed the half on a 22-0 run.
Senior Gabe Pruss (North Fond Du Lac, Wis.) scored seven points in the run to lead the flock and beat the buzzer to give CUW a 41-31 lead at halftime.
Gabe Pruss had 16 points in the half and junior Zech Hans (Hartland, Wis.) was a perfect four-for-four from the floor with nine points.
After Dominican hit a basket to start the second half, CUW held a double-digit lead for the rest of the evening.
The biggest lead of the night came at 86-63 with a dunk by freshman Jack Fritz (Columbus, Wis.).
The scoring ended with the first career points for freshman Sam Dakouras (Brookfield, Wis.) with a made layup.
Gabe Pruss finished with a game-high 19 points and added seven rebounds, six assists and three blocks to stuff the stat sheet.
Junior Freeman Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.) finished with 16 points.
Senior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) finished with another double-double performance with 14 points and 10 assists.
Senior Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.) also added 14 points in the victory.
Tuesday was the fourth time this season that the Falcons have scored 90 or more points.
CUW outscored Dominican in the paint, 58-28.
The Falcons finish the season on Saturday at Lakeland.
