NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – The CUW men's volleyball team took on their fourth top-10 opponent of the season on Sunday afternoon to cap off their trip out East.

The Violets got off to a hot start with a 5-0 lead early in the first set. Junior Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) gave the Blue and White their first point with a kill. The Blue and White battled back and forth with the Violets for the rest of the first set but fell by a final score of 19-25.

The Falcons jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the open points of set two. NYU went on to take a 9-13 lead halfway through the second set. 

The Violets finished the set with a 25-20 victory.

The Blue and White had their backs against the wall in set three which was the win-or-go-home set for the flock. Neither team pulled away by more than a few points down the stretch until the Falcons broke their lead open starting at 8-7 and finishing at 16-7. The Falcon's eight-straight points saw a pair of kills from both sophomore Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.) and freshman Ben Kayser (Milwaukee, Wis.). The Falcons finished the set with a 25-22 victory.

The fourth set saw a 25-20 final score in favor of the Violets. The set was back and forth, but the Violets scored 20 of their points to cap off the set.

Herman led the Blue and White with 13 kills. He hit .267 and added 10 digs.

Sophomore Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) recorded 26 assists to go along with his three service aces.

The Falcons are back home on Friday against Illinois Tech after the Highway 57 Cup at Lakeland on Wednesday.
